P.S. I can't get Firefox to run either, but other than those two, all other programs have behaved well and peppily.

Worked for me.. but there is a beta of a 'native' version available from the Mozilla site.

FWIW, I just discovered that my problem running FireFox had nothing to do with the Intel chip. I had (unscientifically, I admit) switched to a network home directory at the same time I moved over to the Intel iMac. The problem with Firefox had to do with that move, not the Intel chip (I ended up deleting the Firefox folder from ~/Library/ Application Support/, though I probably could have only removed one file if I had the inclination to investigate further).

The release version of Firefox 1.5 seems to run fine. I assume the Intel migration project is one of nativization, not of getting it to run.
