I just purchased ARD 3 which is advertised as having command line
templates built-in.
Much to my dismay and as usual for what has become the standard of
the industry...
(They may advertise it but that does not mean it works... so much
for truth in advertising!!!)
The template that comes with ARD 3 for webproxy has the wrong
syntax. This was confirmed by an apple tech support person who told
me he just tested it at his end and it worked correctly but the
syntax as supplied is incorrect and yet rather than just emailing
me the correct syntax he proceeded to tell me I would have to
purchase an upper level service contract to get any help with
command line.
So... I have come to you folks for help...
Thanks in advance...
Template as written in ARD 3 is:
networksetup -setwebproxy "Bulitin Ethernet" proxy.company.com 80
On authusername authpassword
I tried: networksetup -setwebproxy "Airport" bess.jtdschool.com 80
On authusername authpassword (substituted for correct user name and
password)
I also tried variations on "airport",Airport,etc...
The error code generated says:
Airport is not a recognized network service.
** Error: The parameters were not valid
Does anyone know the correct command line for setting web proxy...
Jay Farber
It's AirPort
man networksetup - tells you all the syntax for the command
networksetup -listallnetworkservices - will tell you all the Network
Services for the machine
