We have 4 Xservs 4.10 and clients Mac X.4.9 - X.4.11
Freeze on login was a HUGE issue for us when we first switched to this
system over two years ago. After re-imaging EACH client machine and
then using NetInfo Manager as needed the problem is unheard of here.
In NetInfo Manager - (according to my humble knowledge and use:-)) you
need to unlock net info logged in as the local admin. Then delete the
MCX Cache file listed in the 2nd column. As I was warned by others - be
very careful in here - it is a powerful tool. (I believe someone wiser
than me could also supply a script to use from Remote Desktop or some
other tool to accomplish the same task.)
As far as the MS Office issue try...
In Applications, in the MS Office folder make sure the "do fonts"
application is gone!! This will save much headache with font loading.
Use the FontBook for the user having the issue and ask the program
to "resolve conflicts" Also, make sure the users fonts folder is empty
or at a minimum ONLY contains fonts which are NOT loaded on your
standard image.
Good Luck.
