Currently Active (foreground) Console Session

I would like to determine (from the command line) the active console user who logged in via the login window.

The commands 'who' and 'w' produce the closest output to what I am after. Is there a command which will output the user name of the console session which is in the foreground?

I did have a quick hunt though the ARD commands. I guess there is such a command. Any assistance would be great!
