I'm just wondering if anyone is using NIS for auth still and has
successfully got Leopard's NIS DS plugin working with loginwindow?
I have used the Directory Utility to configure the service
appropriately and the various CLI tools (ypwhich, rpcinfo etc) all
report as expected. Alas, I can't see packets going across the wire
with the appropriate YP MATCH call :-( on leopard as I do/can on tiger.
I sort of suspect some sort of loginwindow.app -> DS plugin problem or
perhaps I in some inane fashion have missed something obvious? :-0
I have looked at the way launchd now handles ypbind and sandboxes
portmap and feel that I understand what is going on there and it is as
expected; dscl on leopard however behaves differently to it's earlier
netinfo influenced iteration on tiger in that it lists no info under
BSD/my.domain and I can't help but wonder if this is where the problem
might lie?
using dtruss to look at the pid that loginwindow has yields...
Anyway I'd be happy to hear from anyone that has it working and thus
prove that I missed something obvious.
