Final Cut and MCX folder redirection

Dear List,

We use Final Cut Pro and Express in our labs. Since we have folder redirection enabled we also reroute ~/Library/Caches to /tmp/, mainly for performance reasons and we could work it out for the Adobe CS3 suite, Microsoft Office 08 and the iApps. However when the students want to run Final Cut, even if they define an external hard disk as scratch disk, Final Cut creates under ~/Library/Caches/TemporaryItems something what appears to be a shadow file of the project file plus the RTE settings. When the students save their project to let's say their Desktop, the file will once they double click on it open Final Cut but Final Cut says the project file is broken.

I've found nothing in Final Cut to set the path differently, nore is com.apple.finalcut.plist helpful if it's added to the MXC settings for the students group.

Any idea how to come around this issue? It's a pitty that many Apple apps won't play nicely with MXC folder redirection in a network environment.

We know that we could let the students work on local accounts but the trainer prefers network accounts with attached external hard disks as scratch disk / project hd. iApps like iMovie don't have this problem.

Thanks,

Alex
