Apple's Address Book File Format

I'm not sure if this technically falls under the Cocoa framework, but I was wondering if there is any documentation for the integration between the Mail and Address Book applications. I'd like to hook into the Address Book file with my own Cocoa app and I wondered if Apple had opened the file format or given sample code libraries to interact with that file.
