Re: Standard OS X Compression format

I am pleased to report the release of version 1 final candidate 4 of hfspax,
still the only Mac OS X native archive tool that has full support for
resource forks, Finder info, OS X permissions, and the whole richness of OS
X files. It remains freeware (of course).

This release is compiled under, and tested for, OS X 10.1. The major bug fix
is an elusive but troubling one which could lead to failed restores when
paths started from the root (i.e. pathnames beginning with /). Documentation
has been augmented, with an email from a user describing how to use hfspax
to build rescue/restore volumes. Various minor irritations have also been
fixed.

You can find this latest release at

http://homepage.mac.com/howardoakley/.cv/howardoakley/Public/hfspax1fc4.tar.
gz-binhez.hqx
(that should be one line, but Entourage breaks it up as ever)
(The Binhex download is 455 Kbytes)

If you have problems going direct to that, head for
http://homepage.mac.com/howardoakley/
and click on the hfspax1fc3.tar.gz file to download it.
