Outlineview-style palettes--Cocoa or Carbon?

Has anyone here used Office v.X? You know when you have various palettes
visible, how there is a main category displayed in a gray, chrome sort of
bar with a disclosure triangle that grow/shrinks the window to reveal the
contents of the sub-palette? Is this widget available in Cocoa or is it
Carbon only? If it is only Carbon, is it terribly difficult to bridge
between the two frameworks (I've never touched Carbon)?

Only because I noticed a Carbon package for it today at
