First thanks to everyone who have helped. I didn't get help on an abs2rel routine, but have written a crude one if anyone needs such a path conversion utility.

My next dilemma concerns how do I find out what name and directory a user has given a file the first time they save from the dataRepresentationOfType routine. fileName doesn't work. It hasn't been set yet... Ideas?
