build problem

when I "build and run" my app from xcode, it works fine... however when i open the app build from the finder, it functions incorrectly. I wish I knew more, but it works fine in debug mode in xcode. Just thought I'd see if this sounded like a familiar problem to anyone (sorry if this is a little vague).
