Re: Registering a filetype

Actually I am looking to register a filetype that is like a Pages, Keynote, or Widget type, which are actually folders with a .pages, .key, or .wdgt added on to the actual folder name. Applications also use this naming with the .app extension. Within this folder would be xml files, image files, applescripts, and other tidbits. I am wanting to register the following file types:
.scribe -- a word processor document
.sheets -- a spreadsheet document
.vues -- a presentation document
.transact -- a database document

If you're talking about declaring a *package* extension, here is a good URL covering this:

Hey everyone,

I have been writing an application much like Powerpoint, and was wondering if anyone knew how i can register a filetype like Pages and Keynote? The folder will contain xml data, images, icons, sounds, and videos, as well as information about the file and other aspects of the file...
Anyone have any advice?
