Most people tend to learn better not by example, but rather by doing
(even if assisted, like copying code out of a book).  By typing out
the code, you'll not only probably understand more about the code
itself, you'll definitely learn a ton about Xcode, discovering all
kinds of things about it (and gcc) that have changed since the text
was written :)
