That wouldn't work like you expect. Try something like this instead:

- (void) mySetString:(NSString *) contentString
{
[textView setString: contentString];
[self performSelector: @selector(updateBookmark) withObject: nil afterDelay: 0.0];
}


- (void) updateBookmark
{
	// The code that sets the bookmark
}
