I believe Ahmet was asking about how to check an application for
leaks as it was about to exit, not how to perform extra releases at
exit.
That's not how it reads to me (particularly the "so I can go and
figure out where they should be released and add release code" part),
but if that's the case, then ...
Detecting leaks at exit is fairly easy on Mac OS X.
... relatively speaking, yes. Included as part of XCode Tools are
several applications that can help you track them down. Your approach
is of course valid, but the tools in the /Developer/Applications/
Performance Tools/ folder should probably be the first suggestion.
