Maybe posting the code where you create the preferences window
controller and load the nib might shed some light.
Also, since at one point you were doing something in drawRect:, it
sounds like you're using a custom view? Can you tell us more about
this view? If your custom view still overrides drawRect:, maybe you
should show us that code too.
