I haven't been following this thread too closely, but after all this talk, I was wondering if the interested parties have tried using NSDictionary's dictionaryWithContentsOfFile or its related methods.  The file it takes is a property list that can be created/edited in textual form or by using Property List Editor with any extra info you need.
