If I remember my history correctly, ColorSync supported multi-channel MCHx
profiles before the ICC spec documented them. Then when the ICC spec caught
up, it specified that the space types should be xCLR. This means that
ColorSync (and also the ColorSync PS Plug-ins) go to some extra effort
support both MCHx and xCLR profiles.

The contents of MCHx and xCLR profiles are the same so if you have an app
that only support one of the variants, then you can just change the space
type in the profile header.
