separtion setting in ProfileMaker 4.0?

I normally just use the inkjet 400 setting when I build profiles with PM4
which works fine for me. I also use BestColor.
My question is, when I use pigment inks on my Epson9500, the black by
default is weak because of the pigmen. Is there a way to change the
separtion setting to make a stronger black? I was thinking about using the
Max Black setting or use UCR. I am on the right path?
