Calibration of Fuji Frontier

Hi All,
I am just starting the process of characterising a fuji frontier system, running glossy and satin stocks. In talking to the operator, he suggests that it may be hard to profile the system as he feels the tolerances in the built in device calibration are not tight enough. He tells me that the calibration strip that is fed into the built in densitometer is used to modify the internal calibration for all the paper stocks and sizes. He showed me three samples of the fuji test print on 10", 4" gloss and 4" satin. The neutrals were slightly different on each but in particular there was a magenta shift in the neutrals on the 4" glossy stock compared to the 10" glossy.

Has anyone had any experience with these systems and their built in calibration? Is the above statement true that the one control strip balances all the printing stocks? And has anyone any comment about the tolerances that fuji uses on these machines? The operator tells me that even though he can see a shift in the different glossy stocks, the fuji reps tell him it is within tolerance.

Finally, any tricks for profiling these machines. My initial test with i1 and PM 4.1.5 using the Large Profile setting and Chroma Plus shifted the blues to a little magenta (bit like a velvia blue sky).

Thanks for any help offered
