Thank you, first, (muchas gracias) for "throwing ideas" around.

33x33x33 points, that is way too much and there is much wasted space. But a
random sample of 9x9x9 wuld be OK, I think. I don't suppose it would be easy
to design a program that would create random samples of 9x9x9 points, or
less?

Is that what you had in mind?
