Chris,
I did some further testing now. Sticking with relative colorimetry
using the old profile or using the BPC version of the new ones
with either abscol or relcol will give nearly identical results.
This confirms the statement on color.org and should suit exactly
for my purposes.

If anyone could shed light into when one would apply the nonBPC
version I'd be greatly interested. Seems to me that this profile
is highly experimental and only needed when one wants to
test for standard. I don't see a use for colormanagement in practice.

The black points for both LAB and sRGB are the same, so black point
compensation should make no difference.
