Why not switch to stochastic printing and wider gamut
inks? Then you will be using the best proofing system
that simulates stochastic printing. You will also be
giving your customers a printing system that has more
color gamut, resolution, less variance and does not
create moire patterns. They will also be saving
significant dollars on proofing consumables.
I tried to find a printer who prints this way for a
two to four million dollar a year fine art account in
Northern California. It was not easy. The majority of
printers want you to pay for those expensive halftone
dot proofs. Many are not even aware of the advantages
of profiling a press to achieve more proofing
accuracy.
One of the printers we may use has even offered to
help us to establish inkjet proofing for their presses
at our location. It is a shame this enlightened
attitude is an exception and not the norm with
printing companys.
