Re: Shiraz RIP

You are not alone, I myself have looked at GMG, EFI/Best, ImagePrint, Shiraz, and a few others (and then some).
I could never get time or money enough to get to know them all well. The Shiraz seems complicated to me.
I would consider this: What is the purpose of the RIP?
To make proofs, posters or photoprint? I don't think any of them are optimum on all 3 tasks.
With my experience, I would look at these RIPS:
Proof, and only proof: GMG ColorProof,
Poster: Not sure, maybe EFI/Best,
Photoprint, and only that: ImagePrint (loving it)

And I also agree on the newsletter part... As George Carlin once put it:
Any activity engaged in by more than 4 people has got a f...... magazine devoted to it.
So why not RIPs? There are more that 4 ppl in here (I assume).

I don't know what others feel, but I am starting to get truly overwhelmed by
the maddeningly large number of inkjet RIPs out there. I don't have (does
anybody?) even close to enough money or time or connections to go and figure
out this tangle of competing claims from such a thicket of manufacturers.

Am I alone in feeling this way?

Abhay Sharma, or someone, help us sort out this mess, please! How about
something like an "Inkjet RIP Newsletter" to keep us all up-to-date and
straight on the matter?
