answer that you are saying "yes, Nikon Capture and many other raw converters
assign a default input profile and convert to a preselected RGB workspace
without overtly saying so. I have colleagues who have been using Nikon
capture and Nikon editor, then stripping off the Nsrgb profile as it
arrives in photoshop, and applying their own home made Monaco Proof profile to
the file. If its true that Nikon capture has already converted the
file then profilewould be made from sRGB numbers and
not the camera's control signals.
At any rate, thanks to your tip I have downloaded
CDRaw and will be able to compare the file numbers.
