we have had this discussion for several years inside of ECI as well as
with others. There are as many pros as there are cons, and we decided to
leave it as it is...

To generalize this a little bit further - so far we haven't found any
other general purpose RGB profile that *overall* is *substantially*
better for print publishing (is that too bold a statement?). There are
quite a few that are as good, or maybe even slightly better here and
there. ECI would only consider moving on to a new version of an eciRGB
profile if we can clearly see an advantage... And by the way - if a user
believes that some other general purpose RGB profile is better for what
she is doing, that's fine with us. In some cases a one size fits all
approach may not be feasible. Nevertheless eciRGB is a very good default
and adequate starting point.
