Matching spot colors in digital printing

Title: Matching spot colors in digital printing
I’ve been removed from color management world for a few years and need a quick catch-up lesson about automated solutions for color matching images and spot colors in large-format inkjet printers.  It used to be that Praxisoft had a logical solution with it’s AutoFlow software.  Is that still a good option, or have advancements produced an even better option?

What is today’s recommended software for automatically matching spot colors and applying icc profiles to images? Is there a RIP that can match spot colors by mapping lab values for PMS colors to the appropriate values found in the output profile, while also applying the output profile to raster images?

Matching spot colors with printed color charts and manually applying profiles in Photoshop is too time-consuming and makes the art file only suitable for the printer/substrate matched to.  Sometimes we need to switch printers at the 11th hour.
