Re: [RFI] Calibration tools

hi, you may like to try Intelligent Color Calibration System from Focoltone for CMYK Color copiers. Very simple 5 steps in 5 mins process. It is a Photoshop plug-in, and work with the default ICC profile. Print a test sheet, use the scan back, system will detect the difference and compensate, and generate a new profile, which can be applied for all new print-outs. It fits seamlessly into the EFI Fiery workflow, and works on MFPs from major manufacturers like Xerox, Canon, Konica Minolta, HP and Ricoh.

I million and a half times, to be exact ;-)

Would people please suggest their preferred/optimal calibration solutions
(to run under OSX-10.4.x) for:

    1. Monitor LCD/CRT

Depends on the monitor technology. BasICcolor Display does wonder for my LCD
here, along with the Optix by X-Rite.

    2. Inkjet (RGB)

Depends on the driver. Heidelberg, Fuji, Gretag and Monaco will all do you
justice here as far as profiling (sorry Louis, I'm still not familiar enough
with PerfX). In "RGB", there is no calibration possible unless you're
talking Frontier and Lambda.

    3. Colour laser (CMYK)

Calibration depends on the printer model. The same profiling products
mentionned above will do a good job on a laser printer. As for measurement,
it depends how deep are your pockets. The Pulse does a good job. So does the
EyeOnePro. I'd stay away from the Iccolor (ask me offlist). If you have the
money, go for a Spectroscan.

    4. Press

Same tools as above. But calibration is completely under your control. But
better do it right. Heidelberg has a whole software devoted for doing just
that. And it makes a world of difference.

    5. Flatbed Scanner

Same list as above plus Picto InCamera.

    6. Tranny scanner

Same list again plus Picto InCamera.

    7. Digital Camera

The opinions are mixed here. Depends how repeatable or controlled your setup
is, really. Not worth it otherwise. Picto InCamera does good DC profiles.

Best wishes Peter
