They were announced on the Photokina in 2004. Based on the inks in the Staedtler feltpens of the same name. The last adhere quite well on many surfaces and are fade resistant. An Austrian who had some samples made by Staedtler wasn't impressed by the gamut. Not comparable to the Epson UC gamut. A sign magazine here indicated that the ink needs a varnish on some materials to get better abrasion protection. Installation of a Roland with the Lumocolor ink at the distributor shop nearby is postponed for several months meanwhile. I'm interested whether the ink could be used on polycarbonate and allow a protective silkscreen varnish + a 2D thermoforming step. UV curable inks so far cracked on the same conditions (Zund). I have some doubts. It should be possible to run on Epson wide formats as well according to Mars-Staedtler but heating the ink and possibly the substrate asks for some extra hardware.Anyone ever heard of Staedtler Inkjet "Lumocolor" water-based inks?
Just curious.
