I, like Mike Eddington, am inclined to pick the cheaper of the two given
similar inconsistency.

Does anyone have first-hand experience returning inconsistent/subpar
monitors to dealers or manufacturers (and the range of problems considered
acceptable to issue an RMA) and could recommend with whom to (or not to)
do business?
