Re: Salary Range (Mark Franzen)

According to the people I have talked with lately (and depending on geographic area and size of the company) the range usually seems to be from 55 - 80k + benefits and often with the opportunity to earn a bonus.

When I worked for a prepress company the salary range for my R&D team ranged from 48 - the 90s depending on skill level and how long they had been with the company. Some of the employees were given stock and bonuses too. The two workflow and color experts were at the high end of that range. Maybe you could poll some Color Management RIP vendors like CGS or EFI.

The amount of money a good independent color specialist can make ranges greatly per day depending on the area of the country, the volume of work they get from that source and how many consecutive days they get per booking. The greatest challenge seems to be building the relationships and reputation to keep the calendar full. Plus, keeping up with all the paperwork of running a home business is challenging at best.
