The PS->PDF conversion takes place with a single function call which accepts
a CFDictionary parameter called "options", but this is unfortunately
undocumented, so I don't think any opportunity for intervention is given
there. You can parse a PDF file to your heart's content however, and this
would more than likely enable you to copy whatever data you wanted to keep
into a new document while discarding that you didn't, but I don't think
there's an AppleScript abstraction for this functionality that would make it
available in Automator. I could be wrong, though; haven't upgraded to 10.4
yet.
