Archiving Strategies

I am writing this to discover what methods people are using for archiving data. Several of my customers (and myself) have piles of data usually over 100 GB that needs to be archived to make room for the next pile of data.

I have been using DVD and iView MediaPro with much success. However, burning so many DVD discs is quite the chore. The more effort archiving is, the less likely it is to be done in the first place.

Hard drives at first seem like a good way to go, but they are rather fragile and do fail too often regardless of abuse. I don't trust them for long term archiving.

Has anyone tried the newer DVD-RAM technologies? What else do people do?

Any feedback is very much appreciated!
