A friend's 7200 has died and he's looking to replace it. How do
the new
Canon and HP's compare to the Epsons right now?
I am a HP z3100 fan. The black and white quality is gorgeous and the
added gamut makes it a beautiful full color printer. 200 year
stability is a worthy bonus.
However, they list it as the 3800 Pro
with the ColorBurst RIP <http://www.cdw.com/shop/products/
default.aspx?
EDC=1054111> and my rep confirms it. Hellofadeal, since I figure that
that's about $200 less than I expected. But what should I expect
of the
ColorBurst RIP? I have heard that it only works with Epson papers,
and
that it can't be profiled. True?
The bundled Colorburst RIP does a great job with Epson papers. One
must purchase XProof full release from Colorburst to obtain built in
linearization/profiling support for other media. $1221 for your 3800
Pro is a super deal. Congratulations. Considering that it cost
$250,000 to purchase an IRIS printer/RIP in 1995 (to get that level
of quality), your investment is amazing.
