I've tried the technique and it works with my Epson 4880, but also the result was identical to printing the chart from Preview, as I described in a post a couple of days ago.

A recent article on Luminous Landscape gives a workaround from Eric Chan (from Adobe) for printing targets from Photoshop in Snow Leopard:
