Of course, now Nikon Scan crashes consistently under OS 10.6.4, and it's not supported by Nikon, so the matter may be moot unless I can figure out how I got it to run again. Some voodoo, I think.
There could be some Voodoo in Vuescan as the last will allow the
workflows described and usually stays compatible in time with the three
operating systems it supports.
It even knows a "Raw" output mode that includes the infrared scan mask
like used in ICE dust removal software. But only available with a
scanner that has the infrared hardware to create that channel. The Raw
file is meant for reprocessing with Vuescan at a later stage.
