Newbie Q: reference code for midi input conversion (sysex->cc)?

Hi - since Logic 6 appears to have suddenly lost the ability to convert incoming sysex (well, duh!), I'm considering getting my hands dirty & writing a little app that will take input from a selected port, grab incoming sysex from a given ID/device, extract the value byte, stuff that into a control-change message and send it on its way (the app presumably running as a virtual source).

Can anyone point me to some (hopefully well-commented) sample code that I could use and/or modify for the purpose? The sysex will always be the same, as will the output, so I have no real need for a GUI...
