[OT] Host Developers! - SheetWindows

Hi,

this question is for host developers:

I'm going to implement SheetWindows with default EventHandler in my AUView stuff. So far, I could test in some hosts (Cocoa and Carbon), without experiencing problems. But I could only test with a Music Device, yet, hence not all hosts.

Hi Urs

Apologies for an off-topic comment.

Perhaps SheetWindows are different from the Sheet version of modal dialogs used in OSX. So maybe this comment is completely irrelevant to your usage.

I realize Sheet dialogs are supposed to enhance user experience by visually tying the dialog to the parent window, and perhaps more importantly they 'look cool'.

However, many times I've clicked a button which opens a sheet dialog, and the sheet dialog is asking questions which would best be answered if I could see the parent window (for instance, to make sure I've selected the correct file to perform some possibly destructive action).

However, the !@#$% sheet is obscuring the parent window and I can't double check without dismissing the dialog, re-examine the parent window, and then re-invoke the sheet.

Maybe I'm an old fogey, but this seems just as bad as the old non-movable modal dialogs of years ago. I would rather have movable modal dialogs rather than sheets, so I can move them out of the way and check parent window settings before hitting OK on the dialog.
