Appropriate things to shut down the AU HAL

Hi,

I have an AUHAL based project that is working great now. However, if I do the following...
1) AudioOutputUnitStop all AU HALs
2) AudioUnitUninitialize all AU HALs
3) CloseComponent all of the AU HALs
4) repeat for all other AUs
5) Free my ring buffer

... the next time I start it up (actually, about 1 out of every three to five times), I get loud gibberish. Any idea what I could be doing to get that? Is there something more I need to do when I want the AUHALs to stop running?
