As I said in my earlier message AudioGetCurrentHostTime uses the routines in <mach/mach_time.h> and thus has nothing to do with the audio hardware and doesn't have the bug you are referring to.

Also, given that AudioDeviceGetCurrentTime() does have the bug you are referring to, you should write your app with that in mind rather than wait for it to be fixed so that you have the broadest compatibility possible.

I still have yet to get the time from AudioDeviceGetCurrentTime to increase monotonically. I was told that this was fixed with the next version of Mac OS X but I have now updated versions twice and it is still an issue with 10.3.8.

Unless AudioGetCurrentHostTime uses an entirely different method of computing times, I would not count on monotonicity.
