I don't have access to a G5 either. Not yet. I had a look at the G5 hardware specification. It mentions chips named U3H and K2 and a PCI USB controller connected to the K2 chip. Don't know if they are just code names for commercial chips. I thought that Apple was designing its own ASICs.
