Max/MSP does not come standard with an AU host object. I'm not positive, but I believe that the AU external doesn't draw any sort of interface, so you can use the AU but you have to change params via max messages.
thanks Mark, I must confess I've not used MSP for a while and I was presuming it had an ~au external like the ~vst one it ships with.
