Has anyone come across any SMPTE parsing algorithms? I've read some
information on how the SMPTE standard is setup, but I'd like to see
some
other work that may have been done on this topic as a starting point.

What do you mean by parsing SMTPE? Which standard? Perhaps converting
the 00:00:00:00/000 to another format? (CoreAudio or QuickTime time
values?)
