we have noticed in ardour that some/all Apple's AU's fail to update
their GUIs when we set parameter values from automation data or when
we switch factory presets. this problem has not been noticed in any
other AU plugin "series" - Waves, WaveArts, PSP and many other
author's plugins all seem to work as expected when we call either
AudioUnitSetParameter or change factory presets. Should we conclude
that this is a bug in Apple's own AU plugins, or that we are doing
something wrong in our hosting code? this behaviour has been seen on
Tiger, Leopard and I believe confirmed on Snow Leopard too, even
though the actual implementation of the GUI for the plugins has
changed across those releases (some that used to be carbon moved to
cocoa).
