| What about scenarios such as a macbook air (or any other laptop) connected to wifi? Many offices have almost full wifi coverage. Wouldn't it be safer/easier to walk around with the lid closed in a bag than with the screen open? a1) [NSTask launchedTaskWithLaunchPath:@"/usr/bin/say" arguments:[NSArray arrayWithObject:@"Finishing Copy Before Sleep"]]; b) Still connected to wifi, hopefully have enough battery charge. Im sure you could try to find a way to check the remaining battery level, compare it to a estimated time for completion. If the battery level is too low, or the wifi connection drops you could then go to sleep.
