Hi,

Is /Library/Extensions the right place to install third-party
extensions? Are there any type of third-party file types that should
still be using /System/Library?

As far as I know, /S/L/E is still the only place that drivers required at boot time will be loaded.

I came across this old thread saying that /L/E is not currently sanctioned:

This is a six year old thread, so I would like to be sure that this still
indeed the case. I couldn't find anything relevant on the Apple developer
site, but it doesn't mean its not documented somewhere. Unless told
otherwise I will assume nothing has changed since that discussion.
