mac osx vs linux for high throughput network servers

Is Mac OSX inherently slower than Linux for high-performance network servers?

I'm not trolling here, I genuinely want to know. I'm familiar with Mac OSX internals and have 0 knowledge about the Linux kernel. I'd like to continue using Mac OSX and, for example, deploy headless Darwin for my server needs.

	Thanks, Joel
