Sorry but that fits the qualification of suck.

With current bridge ships 24% of the bandwidth eaten is protocol alone. This means the max you can get from firewire drives is 37MB/sec leaving no bandwidth for anything else.

I read somewhere (fact or fiction, who knows on the internet) that bus-mastering ATA-66 bridge chips were on the horizon. I sure hope so.
