:-) Well, I've had a few things work that I didn't think would. I
haven't gotten the system working right, but at least I managed to install
9.0.4 on the firewire drive using my G4 desktop machine. So now, I'm able
to at least run 9.0.4 in stand-alone mode, albeit a bit tethered. Maybe I
can get the thing working from there by some other tricks....

Then, the most surprising thing happened.... I plugged in the firewire
hard drive into my OS X machine and the bloody thing mounted! I didn't
think OS X had firewire support.... :-)
