What about remote 'aliases' to files. As I recall when someone makes a desktop
alias of some file on a remote volume, the unque number is used in reference
rather than an explicit path. Hence, a 'deleted' file in a 'never-reused' system
would cause the remote alias have a 'file(object) not found' error, rather than
potentially serving up the wrong reencarnated object...
